A World of Warcraft: Forever guild
The Grey Company
Alliance, Normal ruleset, NA servers. A leveling and social guild for people who plan to stick around. WoW Forever's release date is 4 November 2026, and the Discord is the way in.

What we're building
A guild for leveling, grouping up and hanging out on the North American (NA) servers, with players from every time zone welcome. The end game is still open; we'll pick it together once we see what Forever becomes.
Some of us ran together on The Burning Crusade Anniversary. We left those names there. Forever is where we're staying.
The Discord is where the guild lives between sessions: who's playing what, who needs a group, and what we're running next.
Everything within reason
That's our unofficial motto, and it covers most of the rules.
- Everyone's welcome. Who you are is your business, and nobody here gives anyone grief for it.
- Politics and sexuality stay out of guild chat. That's not a judgment of anyone. Neither has anything to do with WoW, and they're the fastest way to split a guild.
- You get one friendly warning. After that, you'll need to find another guild.
- A little chaos is fine. Drama isn't. We're building for the people who stay.
Why the Grey Company
It's Tolkien's. In The Lord of the Rings, the Grey Company are the Rangers of the North who ride south to join Aragorn and follow him through the Paths of the Dead. The Star Wars fans in the Discord heard Grey Jedi instead. Both work.
Grey with an e. Spell it gray and dlonem.com/gray still finds us.
What's in the Discord
- Guild intentions and rules, so you know what you're joining.
- Class, race and role tags: tank, healer or damage.
- Looking for group, professions, and a PvP call to arms.
- Mechanics worth knowing and addons worth installing.
- Guild stats, and a channel for the iconic moments.
- Event nights, posted as Discord events with reminders.
No beta, upgrade or Classic experience needed. Join, grab your roles, and say hello.
Quick answers
Is it a raiding guild?
Not to start. We're leveling and social. Once people hit 60 and the new raids open, we'll decide together how far to take it.
Which region and time zone?
NA, the North American servers. I'm on US Eastern time, but if you play on NA you're welcome from any time zone.
Can I join if I play Horde?
The guild is Alliance. On the Normal ruleset you can make characters on both factions, so a Horde alt is fine; you just can't group with us on it.
Do I need to buy anything extra?
No. Forever is included with a WoW subscription or Game Time. The upgrades are optional; one only matters if you want to reserve your name early, 27 October to 3 November.
What about Hardcore?
We're on Normal. Hardcore is its own ruleset, which Blizzard said would open after the others. Characters can't move between rulesets, except that a Hardcore character who dies can transfer to another one.
WoW Forever, the short version
What Blizzard has announced, checked against its own posts on 8 October 2026. Blizzard can change details, and its posts linked below are the final word. New to Forever? Read the beginner's guide, pick a class with the class guide, and take your first dungeon with the Hall of Thanes guide.
- Launch: 4 November 2026 at 3:00 p.m. PST (6:00 p.m. Eastern).
- What it is: a new, permanent version of WoW alongside the modern game and Classic. It's set before Molten Core and starts on the original continents with a level cap of 60.
- Cost: included with a WoW subscription or Game Time. Upgrade packs are optional.
- Name reservation: 27 October to 3 November 2026 (PST), with any upgrade. Up to three characters, first come, first served.
- No realm list: you pick a ruleset instead: Normal, PvP, Roleplaying, or Hardcore (Blizzard said Hardcore would open after the others). Switching means a new character. We're on Normal.
- Two names: every character has a first and a second name, and the full name has to be unique in your region.
- Factions: Horde and Alliance still can't group together.

My last stop in Azeroth
WoW is where my name comes from. Dlonem is what the game's random name generator gave me for a death knight in sixth grade, give or take a few letters I changed. Before that I was Noaha, a warlock who joined Icecrown Citadel raids he had no business being in. The full story is on the Legacy page.
I'm not going back to the modern game, and the only thing that would pull me back to Anniversary is Wrath. Blizzard calls Forever a permanent home it plans to keep building, starting on the original continents at level 60. If it lives up to that, it's the last version of WoW I need, and The Grey Company is built to last as long as it does.
I've run Discord servers since 2016, and the rooms that last are the ones where people can relax. My first website existed to solve the can't-paste-an-invite problem for The Game Center. dlonem.com/grey is the same fix, years later.
One link to remember
You can't paste a Discord invite into WoW chat, so inviting someone means spelling out random characters and hoping. In game, tell people dlonem.com/grey instead. It lands here, one click from the server.
dlonem.com/grey/join skips this page and opens the invite.
Or open the invite directly: discord.gg/UcJmm4XQVZ
